A Welcome From The Board Of Trustees

We are pleased to introduce our new website. The website contains an explanation of your health benefits. In addition, the website is our most recent effort at providing you with information in the hopes of preventing illness and improving the quality of your life and the lives of your loved ones. We believe that our other educational efforts, including the Northern New England Benefit Trust News and the health fairs have helped many of our members to live more healthy and happy lives. We hope this website will prove similarly useful. As Trustees, we are responsible for managing the Trust assets, from which your health benefits are provided, for establishing and administering the various benefit plans and for overseeing all the other activities of the Trust. In undertaking those responsibilities, we are guided by an overriding philosophy of improving the members' quality of life. In accordance with this philosophy, we emphasize preventive care, while encouraging a healthy lifestyle. However, our goal of improving and securing the members’ quality of life can only be achieved in partnership with the members. We encourage you to understand your benefits, to practice preventive health care and to commit yourself to leading a more healthy life.

Our Company, Mission and Guiding Principles

Who We Are
Northern New England Benefit Trust is a non-profit health fund established in 1966 to provide healthcare for participating Teamster Union members and their families throughout New England. The Board of Trustees is charged by law with fiduciary responsibility to manage the Trust and oversee all of the activities of the Trust. This legal responsibility is set forth in the rules established by the Federal Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), and enforced by the United States Department of Labor.
Our Mission
The Trust is committed to partnering with its Teamster members and their employers to provide high quality, comprehensive, and cost-effective healthcare benefits for those members and their families to improve and maintain their quality of life.
Our Guiding Principles
We believe that the interests of our members are of primary importance to the Trust. Our members provide the reason for our existence and the rationale for the resources with which we operate.

We believe that we, as representatives of our members, have an obligation to provide leadership in the health care field. We further believe that leadership in this field carries with it the responsibility for honesty and integrity in all of our working relationships.
